GLUTEOPLASTY / BUTTOCK AESTHETICS
One of the elements that enhances the beauty of the female body is the buttocks. Full, round, and lifted buttocks are among the most desired features for women today. However, not only women, but also men nowadays seek surgery for more shapely buttocks. Gluteoplasty, also known as buttock aesthetics, includes procedures aimed at achieving the ideal buttock appearance. The procedures vary according to the different needs of the patients. There are primarily three methods used in buttock aesthetics:
• Buttock augmentation and shaping
• Buttock lifting
• Buttock reduction
BUTTOCK AESTHETIC SURGERY METHODS
Augmentation and Shaping (BBL / Bresilian Butt Lift):
The curvature of the buttocks is enhanced by increasing tissue thickness in deficient areas through fat injection, resulting in a more attractive and firm appearance. For this method, sufficient fat reserves must be present in the body. Fat is taken from areas where it is not desired (such as the hips, waist, and the lower and outer parts of the buttocks) and transferred to the desired areas. The extracted fat is processed and concentrated before being injected into the necessary areas of the buttocks. In cases where there are insufficient fat reserves in the body or as a preference, buttock implants may be used. These implants are similar to those used in the breasts but are specially designed for the buttocks. The implants are inserted into the buttock muscles through a short incision made in the crease between the buttocks, making the scar difficult to notice. This procedure results in a more prominent and higher buttock appearance.
Buttock Lifting:
This surgery is performed to address sagging caused by skin expansion due to excessive weight gain followed by weight loss, which leads to reduced fat tissue and weakened muscle structures. The procedure involves removing skin from the top of the buttocks and lifting the entire buttock area with suspension techniques. For patients with moderate to good skin quality and minimal sagging, fat injection or implant placement may be sufficient.
Buttock Reduction:
This procedure involves reducing the size of the buttocks through liposuction in specific areas.
PRE-OPERATION CONSIDERATIONS FOR BUTTOCK AESTHETICS
As with all surgeries, it is important to stop taking aspirin and smoking at least three weeks before buttock aesthetics surgery. Additionally, avoid medications and substances that can thin the blood during the last week before surgery.
ANESTHESIA METHOD AND DURATION
The surgery is performed in an operating room under general anesthesia. The duration of the operation ranges from 2 to 3 hours, depending on the techniques and procedures used.
POST-OPERATION RECOVERY PROCESS FOR BUTTOCK AESTHETICS
After the operation, the patient may need to stay in the hospital overnight. If implants or fat injections are used, a special compression garment must be worn for 4-8 weeks. It is recommended that patients rest lying on their stomach for the first 10-15 days. When sitting is necessary, a soft cushion should be used, and sitting time should be kept as short as possible. For liposuction procedures, wearing a compression garment for 3-4 weeks is sufficient. Recovery varies depending on the surgery performed but is typically complete within 2-10 days. It takes 3-6 months for swelling to subside and the buttocks to take their final shape. Active sports can usually be resumed 30-45 days after the operation. Care must be taken when sitting and standing for the first 2 months after implant placement.
