The aim of leg aesthetics is to achieve a look with smooth outer contours, from the hips to the ankles, without sagging and with as straight an axis as possible. To reshape the legs, excess fat tissue can be removed from certain areas and added to others where it is deficient. When there is insufficient fat tissue, silicone implants or fillers can be used to shape the legs. Sagging can be corrected by removing excess skin and reattaching loosened connective tissue in a more suitable position, provided the patient is willing to accept the resulting scars in appropriate locations.

Why is Leg Aesthetics Performed?

Anyone who desires an ideal leg shape can undergo leg aesthetics surgery. Disproportionate fat accumulation disrupts the body's contours and can be bothersome. Leg imperfections are not always due to excess fat. Underlying issues such as bone or muscle structure can also cause leg deformities. In such cases, camouflage procedures are performed. Fat injection into concave contour lines or silicone implants in extremely thin areas are ideal solutions. The specific needs of each area determine the procedures used. Skin elasticity plays a crucial role in defining the extent and type of procedures. Although skin elasticity deteriorates after the age of 40, individual evaluations are more important. The harmony between the leg, thigh, and knee regions is taken into account during shaping. To achieve an ideal leg contour, fat might need to be removed from some areas and added to others. The loosening of internal tissue bands and lifting surgeries may be used together harmoniously. Smooth, soft, hairless skin without capillaries is preferred in female patients. Microdermabrasion, which removes the upper dead skin layer, and laser treatments are used to address these issues. The presence of stretch marks, even in young individuals, indicates a decline in tissue quality. In such cases, surgical interventions are required. These mainly involve lifting surgeries with scars hidden in the groin and inner thigh areas.

Anesthesia Method and Duration

Leg aesthetics surgeries take between 1-4 hours, depending on the techniques used. These operations are performed in an operating room under general anesthesia, spinal anesthesia, or sedation.

Recovery and Duration

Surgeries involving silicone implants can cause some pain and discomfort. Liposhaping (fat tissue shaping) procedures can also cause some pain, but it is not severe enough to limit daily activities. In plastic surgery, interventions typically involve liposuction and lifting surgeries, so patients are generally given compression garments. If drains are placed after surgery, they are usually removed within 1-5 days. Poor wound healing usually becomes apparent after the first month, so patients are advised to come in for their first check-up after this period. The use of compression garments continues for about 4-6 weeks. Patients are advised to protect any scars from sunlight for the first 6 months.
